How Tree Removal Escondido Works
Tree Removal Escondido takes down, trims and grinds out trees for homeowners in Escondido and the inland North County communities around it: San Marcos, Valley Center, San Pasqual, Hidden Meadows, Rancho Bernardo and the ranch roads in between.
We start every job by walking the property with you. In Escondido that usually means looking at more than the tree. We check what kind it is, because an oak of four inches or more in trunk diameter counts as a mature tree under the city's zoning code and an oak of ten inches or more counts as a protected tree. We check whether it stands in the parkway, where it may be a city tree under Public Works. We look at the slope, because many hillside lots off Bear Valley, Felicita and the eastern edge of town drop away behind the house, and a tree on a slope comes down differently from one on a flat lawn. And we look at what is underneath: tile roofs, pool decks, block walls, driveways, the neighbor's yard and the service drop from the pole.
On fire-prone lots we also talk about defensible space. The Escondido Fire Department's property review checklist asks for tree canopies at least 10 feet from roofs and chimneys, lower limbs cleared to at least 6 feet, and dead palm fronds and skirts removed. Sometimes the right answer is not a removal at all but a clearance prune, and we will say so.
After the visit you get a written quote. Each tree has its own line with what will be done to it, how it will come down, whether the stump is included, and what happens to the wood, chips and fronds. If the tree is an oak that may fall under city rules, sits in the historic district, or looks like a city street tree, we tell you that before any work is scheduled so you can check with the city first.
What you can count on
- A price in writing before the saw starts.
- Pieces lowered on ropes where dropping them would hit something.
- Oak wood from beetle-damaged trees kept on site, ground or tarped, not hauled across the county.
- Palm crowns from suspect palms chipped, not stacked.
- Wood left as rounds, cut for firewood or hauled off, whichever you choose.
- Work near energized lines left to SDG&E.
